About Rebecca

Author Photo

I was born in beautiful East Sussex and spent my childhood in a wonderfully lively vicarage, always brimming with family, friends, and the occasional surprise visitor from the parish. It was a home full of love, laughter, and endless cups of tea—perhaps where my love for heartfelt stories first began.

I went on to study English at the University of Warwick, which only deepened my passion for books and storytelling. After university, I trained as a criminal lawyer (yes, really!) and more recently worked as a mental health advocate at a psychiatric unit—work that has stayed with me to this day.

These days, I live by the sea in Jersey with my lovely family, and I really make the most of coastal life. Whether I’m bodyboarding in the waves or taking long, blustery walks along the cliffs, there’s something about the sea air that clears my head and fills my heart. I also enjoy the occasional boxing session to blow off steam, and I’m ever so slightly obsessed with board games—Cluedo is my all-time favourite!

My novels are all about love, family, and finding joy in the everyday. I’m beyond grateful that they’ve resonated with so many readers, with two of them reaching No. 1 on the UK Kindle charts. In 2020, I was honoured to be nominated for the Romantic Novel Awards—a moment I’ll always remember.

“If you love stories that blend cozy charm with real-life heart, I hope you’ll find a home in my books!”
The Backstory…

The Backstory…

“I was inspired by Rosamunde Pilcher, my favourite author, whose books I've re-read so many times. There's something wonderfully poignant and uplifting about her novels and so when I set about writing my first novel, I wanted it to be similarly feel-good.

For me, writing is about escaping from the real world just as much as I want my readers to feel they’re escaping when they read my books.

They always say write about what you know and so I decided to focus on vicarage life as I grew up in a village parish as the daughter of an eccentric vicar. When my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer it was the final push I needed to write a book based on life at a vicarage, with a character inspired by him (the vicar, of course!).”

“My dad read the book in draft but sadly died before it was published. He'd have been really thrilled to know that I'm now working full-time as a writer, something I’d dreamed of doing since I was a child.”

A real page turner from the start. I immediately identified with the main character, Rosamunde, through her romantic ups and downs of both herself and her friends.
The author switches time from the past to the present chapter by chapter to explain Rosamunde's past story,  but this is a very helpful rather than confusing ploy and works very well.
I would highly recommend this book for a good Christmas read.

I have never read any specific "christmas" genre books but I do enjoy village sagas such as the ones by Rebecca Shaw, so I thought I'd give this a go. I am glad that I did!
It is a well written quick read that is not at all saccharine sweet but rather bitter sweet and is more realistic for that.
I would read more books by this author.
I would recommend this book to Rebecca Shaw fans, people of the 1972 vintage or anyone who fancies a cosy Christmas read.

They say never judge a book by its cover – I'd add never judge a book by its title either. I bought “Christmas at the Vicarage” expecting a light-hearted, Christmas romance. What I got was so much more. It was an in-depth family saga based around the central character, Rosamunde, and flip-flopping in time between now (2014) and her younger days.

I found it very hard to put down – definitely a page-turner, and without murders!

I started a tradition for myself last year of buying Christmas related books. This one has been wonderful, wrapped in blankets with tea and cake low lighting and no tv I couldn’t put it down and by the time I got to the end of it I had gone from bah humbug to chilled out and filled with mist of mellow fruitfulness. Loved the atmosphere of it, the settings and the sense of connection. Keep writing them Rebecca I want more for next Christmas lo!

This was a real page turner, I was eager to read on to find out what had happened in the past and how that had affected the main characters friendship. I loved the historical side too, finding out how people lived during the occupation of Jersey and thinking what they must have gone through.  I thoroughly recommend it.

This is the third book by Rebecca Boxall that I've read in as many days. I like the way she alternates chapters between past and present, and between characters in this book too. I've found the characters well written and the pace to be just right. I'm just sorry that I now have to wait for her next book.

Loved the ebook so much for my kindle that I bought the paperback from Amazon UK so I could lend to 2 people....already read by the
1st person and passed onto the 2nd. The book will be given to eldest daughter for an extra Christmas gift. These people do not use
computers but play scrabble at local community centre where I was today. The 1st person is 97yrs and felt sadness for the bad twin.
